Cilento National Park Tour between temples, grottoes and Oasis – 4 days and 3 nights

Day 1 – Agropoli

After breakfast excursion to the medieval centre of Agropoli to discover its alleys, churches and above all its Aragonese ancient Castle located on a headland. Here, you can enjoy a fantastic view. In the evening, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 – Paestum and Castellabate

After breakfast, departure for Paestum where you can enjoy a guided tour in a local dairy farm to see how “Mozzarella” (Buffalo Mozzarella cheese) is produced and at the end you can taste delicious and fresh products. Then, excursion to the archeological park where the magnificent Greek Temples will enchant everyone with their beauty. Later, excursion to the National Museum where you can visit its interesting rooms as the one of “TOMBA DEL TUFFATORE” (Tomb of the Diver) -the first example of colored painting in the history of civilization -and later In the afternoon, excursion to Castellabate, a picturesque village declared World Heritage site by Unesco in 2010. The city is also well known because it was the cinematographic set of “Benvenuti al Sud” (Welcome to the south), an Italian comedy film directed by Luca Miniero. In the evening, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 – Certosa of Padula and Grottoes of Pertosa

After breakfast, departure to visit Pertosa Caves situated at the heart of The Alburni near the river Tanagro. The Grottoes spread for around 3 miles as tentacles: they were inhabited in prehistoric times and each one shows suggestive natural aspects. It is also the unique speleological site in Europe giving the chance to navigate an underground river: in fact, the river Negro comes out from the deep of Earth and it offer visitor a fascinating boat trip immersed in silence and in the power of Nature. In the afternoon, departure for visiting one of the biggest monumental complex of Italy: CERTOSA DI SAN LORENZO (Padula Charterhouse dedicated to St. Lawrence) declared in 1998 as World heritage site by Unesco. In 2002 it was included in the list of the most important touristic attractions of Campania. The building of the monastery started in 1306 and its architectural structure is divided in two areas: the first one is where monks worked while the second one was the places where monks lived and prayed. Day 4 – Oasi Fiume Alento

After breakfast, excursion to the Alento River Oasis : a magic oasis located in the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni with its 3,024 hectares which includes a large part of the Alento river. An earth dam- placed along the course of the Alento river- has created an artificial lake of about 1,7 square kilometers. Along its banks, the lush oasis grows up: visitors can the life in a natural environment with a boat trip to admire the landscape from different perspectives.
